Physician recruitment continues to be a priority at Ponca City Medical Center. The hospital is currently recruiting for several medical specialties including orthopedic surgery, vascular surgery, and interventional cardiology. Additionally, the hospital is looking to add 3-4 primary care physicians in the next couple of years.

The hospital’s recruitment strategy is not limited to searching for physicians who can start working immediately. The hospital is working to build relationships with residency programs in the region for doctors who can start in 1-2 years.

Andy Wachtel, Ponca City Medical Center CEO also noted that other physicians have come to our community this year as part of hospital based medical groups.

“Dr. Chad Ross, who is from Ponca City, and Dr. Ted Kaspar, who graduated from Blackwell High School, are now on our medical staff although we didn’t recruit them ourselves,” said Wachtel. “They both work for companies we contract with to provide services. We are very pleased that they both decided to come back to this area to practice.”

Dr. Ross is the medical director of the hospital’s Emergency Department and Dr. Kaspar is a hospitalist.
